Well it’s been a while since I’ve been on to blog…life has been hectic since things started on site back in early July. We are (when I say we I mean my husband & my Dad has helped a lot too of late, bless him) owner building this little baby…so things don’t move quite as quickly as when there are a team of builders crawling all over site, but we are doing this to save dollars and Mr B has always dreamed of being physically involved in the building of our home. So we are doing it!! It stresses me out a fair bit and my patience levels have some to go before they will properly adjust to this whole process I think, but I am learning to go with it as much as I can. So here are some update snaps…the first 3 photos record the first turning of soil on site, was such a happy day!
I will never forget driving down our street and seeing a huge semi and truck out front…we’d been told to expect them that day but it was still a shock to see something was finally starting on our little plot. It signaled the beginning of the journey. After a mammoth effort of many hard slogging weeks, concrete day arrived for the piers and our sub-floor was fixed and in position…there was no going back. I remember Mr B joking, “well the house better be in the right spot cause that’s where it’s staying now”, with a half concerned but humorous tone to his voice.
